Andalucia offers tremendous possibilities for walking and among the very best places is the Sierra Subbetica, including the countryside around Marisevilla itself. The opportunities for birdwatching, botany, photography and the enjoyment of magnificent scenery are excellent. The problem is to find your way around, in the absence of useful maps or clear footpaths. To address this shortfall we have prepared our own unique collection of favourite walks, around Marisevilla and in the Sierra Subbetica, with plans and descriptions that will help you to find your own way to many of the nicest places. A set of self-guided walks with map extracts and photos, is provided with every booking.

The example (left) describes a lovely three-hour walk - surprisingly easy-going - from the "Vulture Road" (Carcabuey-Luque) to one of the highest summits in the Subbetica range. A sighting of Griffon Vultures is almost assured, as the largest colony in Andalucia lives here. Other walks include more challenging ascents of La Tinosa and Pico Bermejo (the highest and second highest in the Province) and gentler strolls from Marisevilla to the nearby villages of Zagrilla and Esparragal. There are also directions on how to reach and explore the softer hillsides of the nearby upland area of Sierra Albayate
